In a class of its own.
Whether you’re a professional musician or enthusiast, the Olympus LS-100 delivers better-than-CD quality combined with multi-track PCM recording, the best mics in the line-up and more. They make every performance a winning one.
The perfect track. Created by you.
Multi-Track Recording Workflow
Multiple, separately-recorded sound sources can be mixed together to create a single stream of sound. This feature gives you the flexibility to tweak or re-record, replace, adjust or edit each recorded track until you have the perfect result. It allows editing for a maximum of eight tracks, ensuring incredible versatility for easily realising music projects.
Directional Stereo Microphones
True-to-life HiFi sound. Natural ambiance.
Get the most advanced microphones to date: their 90° construction provides an exceptional stereo feel – even at ultra-high sound pressure levels of 140dB SPL. A wide frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz reproduces deep, rich tones while the high Signal-to-Noise ratio satisfies the needs of delicate music recording.
XLR & Phantom Power Supply
Professional connections. Greater freedom.
The integrated XLR and phone combo jack offers Phantom power supply at 24V or 48V. The built-in instrument amplifier cuts slight noise and amplifies signals, so you can use lengthy cables without compromising on quality. Independent L/R recording dials give you greater control over the settings of each XLR channel – and exceptionally balanced audio results.
Metronome & Tuner
The right beat and tone. Every time.
The metronome can be used for keeping regular beats during practice sessions or together with synchronous recording. It has a range of different settings that include adjustment of the countdown feature, tempo, rhythm pattern, sound and volume. The Chromatic tuner function ensures a proper response to all musical scales, and easily tuning your instrument of choice.
Better-than-CD sound
96KHZ/24-BIT LINEAR PCM RECORDING
The LS-100 supports linear PCM recording at rates of up to 24 bits and sampling frequencies as high as 96kHz – far surpassing the 44.1kHz/16 bits of CD-quality audio. When you select this bit rate and sampling frequency, you can readily make a CD of your own recordings.
Get the best recording set-up
LISSAJOUS
The LS-100’s Lissajous feature supports optimal sound recording: the Lissajous waveform is displayed so you can obtain the best position of a dynamic or condenser microphone for your recording set-up.
Clear conversation recordings
LOW-CUT FILTER
When the Low-cut Filter is set to cut frequencies below 300Hz, it can eliminate background noises such as air conditioners or projectors. When switched to 100Hz, these noises are reduced while the recorder continues to capture lower frequency sound.
Intuitive Recording
PRE-RECORDING
The LS-100’s ingenious pre-record function doesn’t leave anything to chance: a pre-record buffer captures several seconds of sound before you’ve even pressed the record button. So you can capture the vital start of a critical recording.
Dynamic sound with every song
MANUAL RECORDING LEVEL
By fine-tuning the recording level to match the volume of the audio source, you can capture high-quality recordings that make the most of the dynamic range. Fine level control is aided by the PEAK display lamps and the lever meter on the LCD display.
Record with greater freedom
REMOTE CONTROL
With the quick addition of the optional RS30W Remote Control from Olympus, you have the freedom to start and stop recordings from a distance. This accessory ensures that any noise which comes from the direct handling of the LS-100 is cancelled out.
Clear Hi-Fi sound quality
SIMPLE MIC CONSTRUCTION & HIGH S/N-RATIO AMPLIFIER CIRCUITRY
The simple microphone design on the LS-100 delivers outstanding Hi-Fi sound and enables you to record natural sound quality. Discrete chips are employed for the left and right channels to prevent interference between the channels – thus ensuring the purest possible signal transmission. What’s more, the digital and analogue boards each have their own power supply and are separated from each other, so noise from the digital circuit does not affect the analogue signal. In combination with the newly-designed microphones, this construction increases the S/N ratio while enabling the recorder to withstand ultra-high sound pressure levels of up to 140dB. As a result, clipping-free recording is assured, even at loud live studio performances.
One personal track. Many performers.
OVERDUB RECORDING
Use sources such as music CDs to make a unique recording in which you "perform together" with pro musicians. Overdubbing is also useful for adding sound effects such as the bustle of the city or bird calls or subtle arrangements on top of existing beats to create an original track.
